At Little Texans Child Development Center, we believe childhood should be filled with wonder, joy, and discovery. That belief has guided us for more than 25 years as we’ve cared for children in the growing communities of Bertram and Burnet, just north of Austin, Texas. Founded and operated by sisters Carolyn Crawford and Charity Allen, Little Texans offers a warm, family-oriented environment where each child is known, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

CLASSROOMS
Purpose-Built for Learning & Growth
Designed with your child’s safety, health, and education in mind, our classrooms provide developmentally appropriate spaces with clean, individual storage for personal belongings, child-sized handwashing sinks, dedicated restrooms, and direct access to fenced, gated playgrounds.
As a play-based center, each room features engaging learning centers such as a library, dramatic play, science and sensory, blocks, manipulatives, large motor activities, and a circle time area. We serve meals family style in the classrooms, where staff sit with children, encouraging independence through self-serving and age-appropriate table skills.
Alongside the Frog Street Curriculum, we teach essential self-help skills—potty learning, self-feeding, separating from primary caregivers, and caring for their environment. Our teachers also integrate Conscious Discipline by Becky Bailey, helping children recognize and manage emotions while building respect, empathy, and problem-solving skills.

Your child’s health and safety are our highest priorities. We take pride in maintaining spotless facilities. Our trained staff follow strict health and safety practices, including disinfecting classrooms, toys, and equipment multiple times a day, teaching proper handwashing techniques, and preparing all meals in a commercial-grade kitchen away from classrooms. We use disposable gloves during food preparation and when attending to children’s sanitary needs, and maintain separate laundry rooms to prevent contamination. Every room follows a detailed cleanliness checklist to ensure the highest standards are met—every single day.
Our comprehensive emergency and inclement weather preparedness plans guarantee your child’s safety no matter the circumstance.
For peace of mind, parents receive timely notifications via the Procare app about any minor incidents involving their child, keeping you connected and informed every step of the way.

Meals & Snacks You Can Feel Good About
We believe full tummies make for happy hearts and curious minds. That’s why we prepare fresh, wholesome meals right here in our kitchen every day. Your child will enjoy a healthy breakfast, hearty lunch, and tasty morning (and afternoon snacks for children under 1 years old)—all included in tuition.
For our littlest Texans, we provide baby formula, infant cereals, and pureed foods to make sure they get the nourishment they need. We’re also happy to offer vegetarian and dairy-free options, plus clean, sanitized sippy cups for little ones learning to drink from a real cup.
TRANSPORTATION BUS
Safe & Reliable School Pick-Up
Little Texans provides safe bus transportation from one designated local elementary school per location. All bus drivers receive professional transportation training twice a year to ensure the highest safety standards for every child.

OUTDOOR PLAY & ACTIVE FUN
Active Play, Indoors and Out
Fresh air and active play are an important part of every child’s day. Our infants, toddlers, and Pre-K students each enjoy their own age-appropriate playground, designed to encourage safe exploration and physical development. Weather permitting, children spend about an hour outside both in the morning and afternoon, giving them plenty of time to run, climb, and play. On days when the weather keeps us indoors, both of our locations feature a dedicated indoor motor gym—so the fun and movement never stop, rain or shine.
